Project IASA NTUU"KPI" for 2010

Project № 2258/10 from July 27,2010 
“Support actions for national Grid-infrastructure functioning and for system administrators education and training ”
Since Institute for Applied System Analysis (IASA) NTUU “KPI” has dual subordination to NASU(NANU) and MESU(MONU) it had right to participate in the project competition, hold by the National Academy of Science of Ukraine, and won a grant for the project № 2258/10 from July 27,2010 “Support actions for national Grid-infrastructure functioning and for system administrators education and training ”.
Main work results:
1. Educational Grid-infrastructure was created to conduct users’ trainings and ППЗ gLite (pic.1) preparation. The wide system of remote on-line seminars was established to support distant users.

Test infrastructure consists following components:
• Test CA- for users’ and nodes certificate ejection and for conformation their authenticity.
• Wiki- server with documents
• Data Storage- for units repository storing that are necessary for installation of ППЗ gLite services, storage resource provision for Grid’s assignments.
• Virtualization systems OpenVZ- to help virtual machines to work with services ППЗ gLite.
• Work station- to provide access to Grid resources on the ППЗ gLite base.
Together with Educational Center OIYaD(Dubna, Russia) one training for administrators was hold in October 2010, and one for users in November 2010

2. The optimization of parameters of alien assignment management system (CERN) was performed for more efficient usage of NTUU “KPI” cluster’s computational resources for working on assignments form Nuclear research institute(CERN, Switzerland). According to the specific analysis of the area, system of service and node monitoring alien was established, adapted and tested.
The automated system for Grid users’ certificate delivery provision in Ukraine was developed based on the updated UGRID CA website. This site was developed in three languages- English, Ukrainian and Russia, and also it has pages with statistics and detailed instructions for Grid-users about certification acquisition. A number of online consultations for users who aim to receive and work with certificates was organized. One register unit (RA) was established in Lviv.
4. The information service for registration and support of virtual organizations VOMS was established based on supercomputing center NTUU “KPI”.

Course Program for ППЗ gLite administrators

Lesson № 1
Theory
Introduction into Grid computations. Introduction into ППЗ gLite. gLite Structure. Scheme of gLite nodes interaction, modules functions.
Practice
Perform the Installation the OS Centos on node(s). Perform basic OS setup. Install OpenVZ.
Create a container for Virtual Machine. Perform basic OS setup for virtual machine.

Lesson № 2
Theory
What is a Virtual Organization? What is SSL-Certificate and how to work with them. User interface (UI).
Practice
Create a copy of outgoing container for virtual machine. Perform OS setup for virtual machine. Install VOMS. Install MTA(sendmail, exim, postfix). Install mail delivery agent Dovecot. Set up VOMS. VOMS work verification.

Practice
Create a copy of outgoing container for virtual machine. Install UI. Manage UI
UI Work verification.

Lesson № 4
Theory
Computation Element (CE). Imformation system (SiteBDII).
Working Node (WN).

Create a copy of an outgoing container for virtual machine. Manage The Virtual Machine OS. Install CE and SiteBDll. Manage CE and SiteBDll. CE and SiteBDll work verification. Storage Element (SE). File Catalogue LCG (LFC).
Practice
Create a copy of the container for the virtual machine.

Lesson № 1
Theory

Generate query for personal certificate. Export personal certificate into browser. Register in virtual educational organization.

Lesson № 2
Theory
What is a Virtual Organization? What is SSL-Sertificate and how to work with them. User’s interface(UI).
Practice
Register under your login on UI. Create catalogue .globus in your home catalogue. Copy files with certificate and private key into .globus catalogue , establishing that acess rights are corresponding. Create temporary user sertificate.

Lesson № 3
Theory
Computing element(CE). Site information system(SiteBDII).
Work Node (WN). Main Information System (TopBDII).
Practice
Display the list of all SE, available for user’s educational virtual organization. 
Display list of all the processes, operation systems, number of free processes and all the software packages that are installed on CE, available for users of educational virtual organization.

Lesson № 4
Theory
Assignment Description language(JDL). Launching assignments in Grid.
Practice
Copying C program code into home catalogue on UI. Compile program for launching on WN. Testing program launching on UI. Create JDL for program activation in Grid.

Lesson № 5
Theory
Data Management Systems. Storage Element (SE). File Catalogue LCG(LFC)
Practice
Studying commands LFC-* and LCG-* for working with Data Management System.
Commands for working with Grid FTP. Commands for working with RFIO. Commands for working with SRM. 

Lesson № 6
Theory
Assginments types in gLite. Capacity control System. Assignment steps.
Practice
Launching of the DAG assignment. Assignment condition verification. Result acquisition.

Students created 6 autonomic gLite 3.1 infrastructures, every one of them consisted necessary set of services, which are vital for full-fledged work: VOMS, UI, TopBDII, CE, WN, LFC, SE, WMS. Each infrastructure was built on the basis of one of the following operation systems: Scientific Linux CERN SLC 4.5 i386 or CentOS 4.8 i386.
After this all infrastructures’ computational resources were integrated into the one virtual organization for test assignments launching.

I have just one wish for future- 1 week is not enough, it is better to increase day amount; and approximate set of commands that have to be done would be helpful.
